NEW YORK, NEW YORK  | JUNE 2024

There’s something special about a sultry summer day in the heart of New York City. The whole place becomes a bit of a playground as everyone flocks to rooftops and park lawns to soak in the summer sun, or simply escape their apartments for a little while.

Instead of letting the humidity chase us out of the city, we took to Prospect Park on just that kind of day in June for a Supper with Le Creuset. The Boathouse at Prospect Park was the perfect urban oasis to showcase a menu conceptualized by Gaby Dalkin. We beat the heat with summer-staple beverages, Aperol Spritzes at cocktail hour overlooking Lullwater and Château Miraval Rosé once we sat down inside this stunning architectural gem.

With flowers cascading down the staircases, glowy spritzes sweating in the sun, and pastel cocottes and platters from Le Creuset dotting the table, the Boathouse felt like a jewel box bursting with pastel tones as we celebrated the summer solstice, New York City style.

WELCOME

There is no better way to welcome summer than with an Aperol Spritz, so we poured them lakeside all afternoon as guests crossed the Lullwater bridge to join us for Supper.

A MENU BY GABY DALKIN

Chef Gaby Dalkin brought her California sensibilities to the table with a casual, creative menu showcasing some of her favorite summer produce. Each course was served in a specially selected gem from Le Creuset’s collection.

WINE PAIRINGS

Scattered glasses of ice cold Château Miraval rosé paired perfectly with the blush tones of the Le Creuset tablescape throughout the evening. Each crisp sip helped diners cool down and enhanced the summer flavors of sweet corn and tomato on the table. For the folks who enjoyed Tomahawk steaks, we beefed things up with a lovely red wine from Famille Perrin.

NIGHTCAP

There’s nothing better after a good meal than a bit of amaro to settle into the evening. Alongside coffee and tea service, we offered pours of one of our favorites, Amaro Averna. It was great poured into a cup of coffee for a pick-me-up or served neat to cut through the lingering heat of the evening.

We couldn’t leave with just a parting shot, so each guest also unwrapped a mini cocotte with a recipe card and Graza olive oil to take home as cooking inspiration.

SECRET LOCATION: PROSPECT PARK BOATHOUSE

The Prospect Park Boathouse was one of the first buildings in New York City to gain a historical designation for good reason. The crisp, clean details of this shining example of Beaux Arts architecture offset the beauty of the natural surroundings of Prospect Park.

Taylor Barry of Rising Tide Botanicals transformed the site into an extravagant playground with flower arrangements flowing down the stairs and through the boathouse, creating a garden oasis in the heart of Brooklyn.
