5 of Our Favorite Wines

Did you know February 18 is National Drink Wine Day? Aha! We may have found our favorite day ever! It’s only fitting that it falls during the last stretch of winter, when we might need an extra excuse to curl up on our sofa with a good glass of wine as we impatiently await spring.

A fun fact about wine in our lives: it’s our passion! Full disclosure, as a team we are still very much learning the ropes when it comes to different types of wine and wine pairings. However, we are learning from the best! Danielle, co-founder and creative director of Secret Supper, is a sommelier and wine connoisseur. Working on wine pairings for our events is one of the things she enjoys the most about this journey!

Today, we are sharing five of our favorite wine we’ve served at our past dinners from the U.S. West Coast, including California, Oregon, and Washington — because, let’s be honest, there’s some great wine on this side of the world!

Now, your turn to share your favorite wine!

Quite possibly the cutest husband and wife wine duo there is, Greg and Mélissa just happen to make amazing French inspired wine in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. We love their complex yet approachable wines that pair with just about every kind of food there is. Their rosé is a constant on our wine racks but honestly, we are smitten with their whole portfolio!

Aesop Wines is a small batch wine farm based in Napa, California. Through the utmost attention to detail, this wine brand is highly focused on experience. From the beautiful art forward labels to the clever way they encourage people to gather to taste their wines, they think about the experience top to bottom! Right now, we are totally loving their 2017 Grenache paired with our rainy Portland evenings.

One of the ‘founding fathers’ of Oregon Pinot Noir, Adelsheim continues to remain at the forefront of quality and sustainability. We love their Pinot Noir as it is such a beautiful expression of what a Willamette Valley Pinot Noir should taste like!

This Alexander Valley based winery produces terrior driven wines from a super unique area in Sonoma County called Chalk Hill. The Cabernet Sauvignon from their block on the base of Chalk Hill is made from old vines that produce less fruit than typical younger vines making this wine super concentrated and complex.

COR Cellars is situated on the Washington side of the Columbia River Gorge AVA, in one of our favorite wine areas that not very many have heard of — unless you live in Oregon or Washington, of course. Their tasting room is 100% worth the drive as it boasts epic views of Mt Hood, fireside in a light-filled tasting room straight from coveted Pinterest boards, all while sipping some amazing vino. Yes, count us in!
